lamp base seal 24in Wide X 36in Long Brown Self Adhesive Sticky Back Felt Felt Pads - Protective pads

Is this what I would use to seal off the base of my lamps to keep the electrical hidden and protected, most lamps for purchase have a pretty solid material used to cover the wires for the base mounted on off switches. Would this be rigid enough? or do you have a product just for this purpose?

This felt is made for attaching to the bottom of your lamp base to stop any scratching or slipping of the table lamp on delicate surfaces, as well as giving it a nice decorative finish to the bottom of the base.
