No, this is probably the most confusing aspect of lamp making. But, once you understand, it will make everything else easier.
This Finial is NOT 1/2in. Instead it is 1/2IPS which is 3/4in (inner Diameter).
For 1/2in (inner diameter) you will want to use 1/4ips thread
