How do you get this open?
Black E-26 Base Weatherproof Phenolic Sign Socket with Mounting Hook
I know this base twists open to allow wires to be passed through, then twists closed to pierce the wires. What I don't know is how to get the top to twist open. What's the trick?

Not sure I understand. The only part of this socket that moves is the cap, which as you said twists open to allow wires to be passed through, then twists closed to pierce the wires.
