1/8ips (Iron Pipe Size) is the most common lamp fitting size in the U.S. for most table and floor lamps, but it depends on the lamp. Some lamps have 1/8ips, some have 1/4ips, some have 3/8ips. For a better understanding of lamp thread please refer to this article.
