Is it possible to wire this so the electric cord comes out of the side instead of through the stem? 5in. Bottom Stem Pull Chain S-Cluster - Antique Brass Finish

I have a base from a piece of farm equipment that is solid steel and I cannot get through the body of it. Is it possible to convert this piece so the electric cord comes out of the central axis?
