There are two (2) main threads lamp threads that measure 1/4in. Thread pitch is the number of threads per inch (TPI). Use a thread gauge to match the threads per inch. If you don't have precise measuring tools, take the bolt to a hardware store or use a universal thread checker for quick identification.

1/4-27 is a very common thread found typically on the top of a Lamp Harp.
