The wire included with many pendant lights often contains only two conductors because the fixture is designed to operate without a ground wire. Whether it is acceptable to extend or replace that wire depends on the fixture's design, local electrical codes, and the requirements of your installation.
Our 16/3 SJT-B White Nylon Fabric Cloth Covered Lamp Wire contains three conductors (hot, neutral, and ground) and is commonly used for lighting applications that require a grounded cord.
