Thank you for your question. This canopy is designed to slip over a 3/8ips (5/8in O.D.) threaded pipe or fixture stem and is secured in place with the included side set screw. It does not mount directly to the crossbar or mounting bracket.
The chandelier itself is supported by the threaded stem and mounting hardware above the canopy. The canopy simply slides up to cover the electrical box and mounting hardware, then the set screw is tightened to hold it in position.
