This socket is not rated for outdoor or wet-location use. While the porcelain socket itself is durable and heat resistant, the attached 18/2 SPT-1 leads and the socket assembly are not designed to be exposed to rain or the elements. If used outdoors, it should only be installed inside a weatherproof fixture that protects it from moisture and complies with local electrical codes.
