A 10mm threaded rod is not compatible with this socket. The cap on this socket is threaded 1/8ips, which is the North American standard for lamp pipe. Although the outside diameter of 1/8ips pipe is approximately 3/8in (9.5–10mm), the thread itself is not metric and will not fit an M10 threaded rod.

This socket is designed for a standard E26 medium-base screw-in bulb, so a bulb with an E26 threaded base will fit.
