This dimmer actually has two leads—one black (B) and one white (W). As shown in the wiring diagram printed on the side of the dimmer, the black lead connects to the incoming hot (line), and the white lead connects to the lamp (load). The neutral wire bypasses the dimmer and connects directly to the lamp.
This dimmer is designed for use with 120V incandescent and halogen lighting and should be installed in accordance with applicable electrical codes.
