The 2-1/4" dimension refers to the outside diameter of the fitter neck, which is the portion of the glass that fits into the fixture.
We do not have the inside diameter of the opening published for this hand-blown glass shade. Because each shade is hand-blown, this dimension can vary slightly, so we are unable to confirm that it will have a 1.75" inside opening.
If your application requires an exact 1.75" opening for an antique fixture, we cannot guarantee that this shade will meet that requirement.
