This HI-LO-OFF switch is designed specifically for incandescent bulbs. The LOW setting controls the bulb using a dimming method intended for the electrical characteristics of incandescent lamps.
LED bulbs use electronic drivers and are not compatible with this type of HI-LO control. When used with an LED bulb, the lamp may flicker, buzz, fail to dim properly, shut off, or otherwise operate unpredictably.
For LED applications, we recommend using a dimmer specifically designed for LED lighting. In particular, we recommend Trailing Edge Dimmers for LED.
Trailing edge dimmers are generally better suited for LED bulbs because they provide smoother dimming and are designed to work more effectively with electronic LED drivers.
