The manufacturer identifies this as a 1-1/4in diameter snap-in socket; however, they do not provide a mounting-hole template or a specified cutout diameter for installation in sheet metal. We therefore cannot confirm that a simple 1-1/4in round hole would provide the proper fit, or whether additional clearance or notches are required for the spring clips.
Because you are installing the socket into 16-gauge steel, we recommend making a test opening in scrap material and verifying the fit before cutting your finished piece.
